Born and reared in Schull, Mick Barnett took over his father’s business over 40 years ago and since then has been supplying Schull with the essentials – and not so essential – ever since. A rite of passage for every child of the last few generations must be trying on their first school uniform and then their last! 1. His favourite view is out of his sitting room window looking over the harbour and he would love something by Rory Gallagher.
2. If he ever has any spare time he heads for the sea and some quality boating!
3. His best night out was one of many during the summer of ’80 when his father’s dog, Parkdown Jet, won the English Derby.
4. Definitely a Murphy’s man and his favourite pizza is one with anchovies.
5. He can’t quite remember what he wanted to be when he was 5, but it was probably a sailor.
6. What he would like more than anything is a really good pension!
