The Ladykillers is a brilliant dark comedy written by the incredibly talented Graham Linehan (of Father Ted fame) in 2011, based of course on the classic Ealing Comedy film of 1955 which starred Alec Guinness and was also Peter Sellers’ first speaking film role. It is the hilarious story of a hapless gang of bank robbers and their accidental undoing by the adorable widow Mrs Wilberforce.
The action takes place in the first week of November 1956, and Deirdre and her cast and crew have brilliantly re-created the feel and sounds of that time. On the one hand this is superb comedy, but it is also a tale of innocence and criminality, youth and age, old values versus desperate ruthlessness. It leaves you asking yourself what YOU would have done with all that money! A tour de force in terms of the sheer acting and a memorable, unmissable night out – don’t miss it!
Suitable for all ages and great raffle prizes too…
