Lighting the Christmas Wish Tree

The Christmas Wish Tree .

The Scoil Mhuire National School Parents’ Association Christmas Wish Tree will be lit on Saturday 9th of December at 7pm outside the Bunratty Inn. Once again, a ticket will be given to each child present at the event and one lucky child whose ticket will randomly be picked out will be awarded the honour of turning on the lights on the tree with a very special visitor .There will be hot chocolate for the children afterwards, kindly provided by The Bunratty Inn. All are welcome to come along to join in the festivities! This is a lovely festive community event which takes place every year and kickstarts Christmas for the village and the surrounding area. All are welcome.

The Parent’s Association and Mr. Duggan ( school principal) have heard that Santa and his helpers are doing their best to come along to meet the children and see the Wish Tree light up the village!

The idea of the Christmas Wish Tree : The concept is to remember a loved one who may be sick or who is not here, be they no longer with us, abroad or elsewhere for any reason. A light will shine on the Christmas Wish Tree outside The Bunratty Inn at the top of the village throughout the Christmas season. Your intentions will be remembered at mass in St.Mary’s Church and Service at Holy Trinity Church, Schull on Christmas Day. A wish card comes with the light and it costs €5. A list of those for whom the lights are dedicated to, will be displayed on the tree. All proceeds go to Scoil Mhuire National School Parents’ Association and will be used for the benefit of the children.

Cards are now on sale in Schull ( The Little Way Charity Shop,Barnetts of Schull, Newmans Cafe, Nicky’s Cafe, The Credit Union, Classic Touch, Mizen Medical Practice, Whaizzer Scissors in Ballydehob) and will also be for sale at Goleen’s Christmas Fair and Schull Christmas Craft Fair.

If you’d like to know where you can buy Wish Cards in Schull or have any other questions ,please contact Irene McSweeney on 0860822705.
