Welcome to Schull....

Set in the centre of an area of outstanding natural beauty, Schull is one
of the loveliest villages in West Cork, Ireland. The prevailing
southwesterly winds come over more than two thousand miles of open
sea and the air is marvellously clear and clean. The safe and welcoming
harbour, the many islands off-shore and the Atlantic Ocean beyond
provide an excellent base for water sports. There is also tennis, pony
trekking, a planetarium, fine restaurants, good accommodation, a
boatyard, a weekly Country Market and a peninsula rich in
archaeology and wildlife. It is wonderful country for walking and
cycling and an excellent area for holidays, in winter and summer.

This website is packed full of information about places to stay, places
to eat, local businesses and services, and great activities in and around

Double Victory for local projects!
Accolades for Cadogans Strand and
the Mizen Head Footbridge!

In recent awards ceremonies, Mizen Head Footbridge and Schull's Cadogans Strand were voted winners of the All-Ireland Pride of Place award and the Engineering Project of the Year award respectively.
The spectacular new Mizen Head Footbridge  (at the popular Mizen Head Signal Station) replaces the original bridge, which had become unsafe after 100 years.
The Award recognises the astounding engineering feat of demolishing and reconstructing the bridge in situ.
See the new bridge for yourself - the Signal Station is open weekends 11-4 and daily from March - October
A team of volunteers from Schull were responsible for developing a beautiful new garden “Trá an Oileáin” beside Cadogan’s Strand on the outskirts of the town. The development of the garden came about after the former piece of waste ground had become a litter black spot.
The volunteers got the support of Cork County Council and the West Cork Development Partnership to turn the site into a garden.
The project was then selected by RTÉ for a programme with celebrity gardener Diarmuid Gavin who designed the layout of the new garden.

Two more great reasons to visit Schull and the Mizen peninsula!

Schull Country Market is back!

The ever-popular Schull Country Market returns for the summer season - starting Easter Sunday. All of the old favourites, plus some exciting newcomers - so visit us at the Pier Road Car Park from 10am - 2pm every Sunday from now until the end of September for a great variety of local food and crafts.
If you're visiting Schull, please try to avoid overnight parking in the Pier Road Car Park on Saturday night / Sunday morning, as the Market tends to take up the whole of the car park, and you may find it difficult to move your car on Sunday morning. Thanks!
